Technical Aspects of Design for CGI

 Crocfather CG Designs:

This design is intended for a high budget feature film. The level of detail is a great deal better in this model than for broadcast or game models. The textures, lighting and shading are of much higher quality and the model itself is complex and much larger poly. The increased budget allows for these features.
This design is intended for broadcast. The budget is much lower than that of VFX, however it still contains a reasonable amount of detail. It is stylised in a more cartoon like way, with bold colours instead of textures with no shading or lighting.
This design is intended for computer games. The main concern for this design is it's playability, so low poly models are vital in this respect. Very large poly models, such as the model for VFX, would be unable to run smoothly or at all on a game engine. Therefore i designed this model with all straight lines using as few as possible. This will allow the design to work in a game.
For my VFX design, I attempted to find real textures of the animals my characters were based on. For example for the Crocfather i found images of crocodile scales and used this for his skin. I then edited the colours of these textures to match my original design concepts.
